NZGAP certification body (auditor) selection underway
FAQ's
What if I use SGS for my GLOBALG.A.P. audits and other services ?
You can continue to use SGS for any certification or services that are not associated with NZGAP. This includes GLOBALG.A.P. audits and other SGS-provided services. If you're certified with GLOBALG.A.P. through SGS and are considering NZGAP add-on modules, see the related frequently asked question below.
If I have GLOBALG.A.P. certification with SGS, can I use the NZGAP-EMS and Social Practice add-on modules?
Yes, you can. NZGAP recognises GLOBALG.A.P. certification, so you're eligible to register for the NZGAP-EMS and Social Practice add-on modules. These modules will be invoiced directly by NZGAP, and the audits will be conducted by either AsureQuality or QCONZ.
How can I get more information about QCONZ?
The selection notification has a link to the QCONZ website and includes some frequently asked questions. You can contact Ben Schnackenberg on 021 449 276 if you have more specific questions.
Have the NZGAP fees changed?
No, NZGAP fees have not changed. As before, NZGAP will invoice you directly for registration and audit costs. If you choose NZGAP-Global or GLOBALG.A.P. certification, the process is the same as before; fees are set and invoiced directly by the certification body.
How much time do I have to make my decision?
We’d appreciate receiving your response as soon as possible. However, we understand you may need time to consider your decision. We’ll be sending reminders over the coming weeks, with the final reminder scheduled for 31st October. If we haven’t received your decision by 7th November, we will proceed with arranging a transfer to a new certification body on your behalf. You will still have the opportunity to request a change later by contacting us, if the arrangement doesn’t suit your needs.
Why did NZGAP carry out the certification body (auditor) review?
It has been 15 years since NZGAP last appointed certification bodies (auditors), a lot has changed in this time. It is important that certification bodies are aligned with our strategic goals which are to:
-
Improve service for certified operators
- Move towards a digital audit process
- Provide good value for money
What are the details for the grower meeting in Pukekohe on 23 October?

HortNZ CEO, Kate Scott will be attending and will provide a brief update on the change in audit body process and an overview of the current EMS review.
